the Public education
Save
the Diabetic
Life (SDL)
is a charity working in the United Kingdom (UK) as well as in Africa for
the relief of diabetes and related diseases. In the United Kingdom the
work is mostly done among French speaking refugees and asylum seekers.
In Africa we are currently working in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
and mostly in partnership with the diabetic clinic of the Central
Hospital of Kinshasa (Mama Yemo Hospital) and the Mukengeli Medical
Centre of the Archidiocese of Kinshasa.
As a result from our last year (2003-2004) survey and
also due to a large demand for service from people (French speaking refugees and
asylum seekers) having general health problems, the executive committee decided
to open the service to all health issues as they affect refugees and asylum
seekers in the United Kingdom even though our speciality is still diabetes.
